Welcome to Burnham Park, a vibrant and lively destination nestled in the heart of Baguio City, known as the City of Pines. As I stepped foot into this enchanting park, I couldn’t help but feel the excitement building up inside me. I knew that a day full of adventure and unforgettable memories awaited me and my family. Spread across a vast area of approximately 81 acres, Burnham Park holds a special place in the hearts of locals and tourists alike. It was named after Daniel H. Burnham, an American architect and urban planner who played a significant role in designing the city of Baguio. As I stepped foot into this enchanting park, I couldn’t help but marvel at its rich history and the meticulous planning that went into its creation. Furthermore, Burnham Park was established in 1905, making it one of the oldest parks in the city.
It was designed to serve as a recreational hub and a serene sanctuary away from the bustling city life. Our first stop was the Bike Rental area. It’s impossible to fully experience Burnham Park without hopping on a bike and pedaling through its scenic paths. For just PHP 50, we were able to rent a bike for 30 minutes. Moreover, the park provides affordable rates, ensuring that everyone can enjoy this exhilarating activity. My kids and I gleefully pedaled our way around. Taking in the fresh breeze and admiring the lush greenery that surrounded us. Unfortunately, the weather took a turn and raindrops started to fall. But, to our delight, the kind staff at the Bike Rental area allowed us to pause the timer until the weather cleared up. This flexibility ensured that our biking experience wasn’t dampened by a little rain. Which I think was a nice thoughtful treat.
Fun-filled Park
After the rain subsided, we headed towards the famous Burnham Lagoon, the park’s picturesque man-made lake. Here, we decided to embark on a boat ride adventure. For only PHP 250, our family of seven could enjoy a 30-minute boat ride. Moreover, if you prefer a more relaxed experience, you can hire someone to row the boat for you at an additional PHP 60. It was truly a joyous experience as we glided across the serene waters, marveling at the beauty that surrounded us. We also stumbled upon the “Fun Rides and Recreation Area.” This area offered an array of thrilling activities for those seeking indoor excitement. The bumper cars caught our attention, and for just PHP 100 per person, you could enjoy a heart-pumping ride that will last for 5 minutes. For those looking for a different kind of adventure, the skating rink is available.
Skating shoes and protective gear for rent are provided, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own. Other exciting rides and amenities are also available such as roller coasters, and a horror house. Although my family and I didn’t personally experience these specific rides, their presence adds an extra layer of excitement and adventure to Burnham Park. Additional attractions such as roller coasters and a horror house provide an extra dose of adrenaline for those seeking a memorable adventure. To ensure that visitors are well-nourished during their exploration, Burnham Park houses numerous food stalls both inside and outside the Fun Rides and Recreation Area. From quick bites to satisfying meals, these stalls offer a variety of delectable treats and refreshing beverages. It’s the perfect opportunity to recharge and indulge in some local flavors before continuing your exciting day at the park.
Pay Parking
For those who choose to bring their vehicles, Burnham Park offers convenient pay parking facilities. With rates as reasonable as PHP 35 for the first 2 hours and only PHP 10 for each succeeding hour, you can park your vehicle without any worries. Allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the wonders of the park without the hassle of finding a parking spot. Burnham Park is more than just a recreational space; it’s a cherished gem that holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Baguio City. It has witnessed countless joyous moments, family gatherings, and romantic strolls.
