Makati Cafes – Newest chic cafes in the City

Makati City Nono's

It’s been around 10 years since I have been living here in Makati City Business District. MCBD is one of the important cities that help regulate the country’s economy. However, COVID-19 stole so much from everybody since it happened, such as, money, businesses, employment, and time. I’ve seen a lot of cafes, restaurants, and bars in the area that closed down during the pandemic. It is truly disheartening for both consumers and businessmen- having less place to unwind and generate revenue from. Now that everything is progressively going back to normal, new establishments are starting to emerge in the Metro. Restaurants and Cafes are going back to accommodating customers in almost full capacity. Furthermore, there are a lot of new ones that are very chic and instagrammable. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend your “me-time” or group hang-outs with, I have some to recommend!

DEUCES COFFEE & ROASTERY

Deuces Coffee & Roastery in Makati City is one of the newest chic cafeterias in town. It recently opened around April 2022. Just around the corner of Perea Street, this pink minimalist-themed cafe took my attention. The exterior has the most baby pink color with touches of black and white. Moreover, the motif continues in the interior. Although the space is small, the colors are adding calmer and airy feel inside and outside the shop. During my visit, they also have a flag pride hanging outside that added points for its gender-inclusivity approach. If you’re looking for a wide variety of caffeinated drinks, they have it! We still need to give them some time to explore the menu (they are new anyways), as they only have Japanese cuisine on their list. Not that it isn’t my taste, but it would be nice to have more options to choose from.

Why I recommend this coffee shop?

  • Exterior and Interior designs are indeed pretty and IG-worthy!
  • The foods and drinks are delicious!!
  • Price is somehow affordable, It is cheap considering being in Makati City
  • Cozy feels. You can bring your laptop and do homework or work, or just hang-out with loved ones
  • The space is small but they make sure the customers are having enough space

PANCO CAFE

Panco (Pandesal & Coffee) Cafe in Makati City is one of the newest chic cafeterias in town. It recently opened around July 2022. Carlos Palanca used to be one of the liveliest and busiest streets in MCBD before the pandemic. It is where people go for night-outs, not until COVID-19. Indeed quite sad that the previous bars didn’t re-open now that things are getting back to normal. Fortunately, these open spaces gave home to new restaurants and cafes like Panco. What I liked about this is the minimalist and airy design. The cafe looks very simple from the interior to the exterior but that doesn’t make it less attractive – very elegant, nevertheless. We had a chance to talk to the owner and she shed light about the history of this newest hang-out place. Coming from Australia as a barrista, she used all her skills and knowledge to build Panco.

Why I recommend this coffee shop?

  • The place is quite spacious.
  • Foods are unique!!! I love the Caldereta with pan de sal (in their own way). This may sound like a weird combination but I swear, this is really great.
  • There are art paintings on the wall that are very eye-pleasing.
  • Restroom is super clean and pretty.
  • Staffs are very approachable.

NONO’S COMFORT KITCHEN & BAKERY

Nono’s Comfort Kitchen & Bakery in Makati City is one of the newest chic cafeterias in town. It recently opened June 2022. If you happen to take a jog or exercise in Washington Sycip Park and Legazpi Active Park, this is a good place to have a little cheat afterwards. But fret not, they have a very wide variety of options in the menu – even the light and healthy ones for the conscious and pro-active ones. They have a very spacious and stylish interior. The design might remind you of Korean cafes but the owner is actually a Filipino that came back to Manila after getting culinary studies and experience in California. It might look small from the outside but you’ll be surprise entering as there are so many seats and tables to occupy customers. Everybody will surely feel comfortable and cozy on dining here.

Why I recommend this coffee shop?

  • They have a lot of branches now so it’ll be convenient.
  • The foods and beverages have A LOT of options and very delicious.

  • Staffs are very approachable.
