Salcedo Park and Community Market

Spending My Day at Salcedo Park and Salcedo Saturday Market.

Weary of the same routine after a long work week and don’t feel like heading to the mall to buy the same groceries? Well, me too; that’s why I rushed to Salcedo Market without any second thoughts.

Salcedo Community Market

One of the most popular weekend markets in the Philippines is the Salcedo Community Market, which can be found in Jaime C. Velasquez Park, Tordesillas, Makati.

The Park is transformed into an enormous market every Saturday, from 7 AM to 2 PM.

I brought my two lovely daughters, Clara and Ella, with me so they could help me push the shopping cart. 🙂 But seriously, this is a great way for us girls to spend time together.

Food

Over a hundred different merchants have set up shops here, offering a wide variety of locally-made items.

This place made me really excited! I could get anything I needed for my kitchen, including products I do not often seen in a conventional market.

Salcedo

Pastry

It was a real treat for my kids to try the freshly made Shakoy (fried donuts) and other affordable baked goods. Although it was just terrifying that I almost ran out of money when my girls asked for more fluffy sweet bread. Naku, they loved it!

Kakanin

As a probinsyana, I wouldn’t want to pass up the chance to re-experience kakanin or traditional Filipino snacks I grew up with. They have Minatamis, Suman, Biko, Puto, Sapin-sapin, Kutsinta, Palitaw and many more.

Seafood

Fresh fish options are also available, such as pusit, sapsap, talakitok, and lapulapu, among many others. You won’t be able to resist diving into your lunch as soon as you get a whiff of their grilled seafood.

They also sell a variety of dried fish from different regions, including Tuyo, Danggit, Dilis, Tinapa, Daing, etc. These dried fish are also available in a spicy variant.

Fruits

Be sure to fill your shopping basket with fresh fruits, such as the all-time favorites, mango, strawberry, avocado, banana, jackfruit, sweetcorn, papaya, and sweet potatoes.

If your mouth is already watering and you can’t wait to sample them, fruit juice and salad are also available for just a reasonable price.

Vegetables and Snacks

Stay healthy and cook veggies for your family; they offer a complete selection of fresh vegetables, so you won’t have to waste time and gas driving to Divisoria night market just to shop.

Have a wonderful meal excursion since you’ll see a variety of ready-to-eat food, ideal for a weekend family picnic.

I purchased my girls’ corn dogs so they could have something to eat while we continued shopping.

PLANTS

If you are a certified Plantito or Plantita, flowers and other plants are also available here. They also sell lovely locally produced flower pots.

Mini Toy Store

Since we happened across a toy store, bubble machine toys were a must-have for my children, and this obedient mommy couldn’t say no.

PLAY GROUND

There is also a playground for kids. My girls loved it and had a great time playing with other children. They also have a fenced dog park, which was closed when we were there.

We really enjoyed our mini family day here. Ensure you grab everything you need before the store closes early in the afternoon.

This market is highly recommended if you’re looking for distinctive Filipino cuisine and products. Thus, plan a Saturday trip to Salcedo Market with your family or someone special to make your weekend even more unforgettable.

Also, consider seeing some of Makati’s other attractions here.

It’s time to say farewell for now, I can’t wait to see you on my ANAther travel. Ba-Bye!
