Trying Octoboy Restobar; UNLIMITED WAGYU for PHP699 only?

Octoboy Japanese Takoyaki Restobar is a famous restaurant in Metro Manila. Established in 2009 by Mr. Giovanni Cheng, Octoboy has transitioned from a humble Japanese Street Food eatery to a multi-branch restaurant, offering a diverse menu that caters to various tastes. The first branch opened its doors in Banawe in 2009, marking the beginning of an exciting culinary journey. Mr. Cheng brainstormed the diverse food lineup in 2004, laying the foundation for Octoboy’s inception. Furthermore, the menu has expanded significantly over the years. It includes unlimited Wagyu cubes, Takoyaki, Sushi, Sashimi, Scallops, Tempura, Salmon, Gyoza, Chicken Karaage, and more. Embracing variety, they also cater to samgyupsal enthusiasts with pork, beef, and chicken grilling options. Adding a touch of surprise, Octoboy introduces special menus on Tuesdays to Fridays, occasionally featuring their best-selling ramen and keeping the dining experience exciting, enjoyable, and worthwhile!

Octoboy’s EDSA branch accommodates approximately 100 customers and offers around seven parking slots. Including buffet tables for self-service enhances the dining experience, allowing patrons to savor their favorite dishes at their own pace. With large branches in Tomas Morato, Banawe, and Caloocan, the restaurant has become a local favorite. The Mandaluyong branch along Epifanio de los Santos Ave provides easy access along EDSA. Operating daily, except Mondays, from 11:30 AM to 10 PM, Octoboy Japanese Takoyaki Restobar caters to the cravings of Japanese food enthusiasts. For those on a tight budget, they also have a la carte bento options, family platters, and party packages. The beverage menu covers a wide variety of options, including beers, cocktails, juices, soft drinks, and water. Customers can enjoy unlimited beers and cocktails at Php 199 and Php 399 per person, respectively. Best for late-night drinking sessions with friends and family.

My Experience

Our visit to Octoboy was a pleasant surprise. The place offers ample seating, making it easy to find a spot even during the busy lunch hours. Although a good number of tables were taken, there were still plenty available. It was not due to any issues with the food or service, because it was indeed both great! Likely because it was a weekday and fewer people had time to go. Our favorite was the Wagyu Cubes – they were truly exceptional and justified the cost. I already kept my expectations low because who would serve almost melt-in-your-mouth unlimited Wagyu for $15, right?? But It was really surprising and impressive! Right off the first chew, I already tasted its rich flavor and tenderness. The most affordable Wagyus I’ve tried before were chewy, but this one is not! We paid Php 734 per head plus a 10% service charge using a credit card.

But it’s only Php 699 per head plus a 10% service charge for those paying in Cash, Gcash, and Maya. It may sound more expensive than the average samgyupsal restaurant but the quality of their melts-in-your-mouth wagyu and samgyupsal are more than worth it! Plus you can enjoy their tempura, takoyaki, samgyupsal, and other Japanese food they offer with no limits! The staff was friendly and attentive. They even asked us if we wanted a vanilla sundae for dessert. Octoboy has earned a spot on our list of places to revisit and is highly recommended for those looking for a satisfying dining experience.
