Ugbo 24/7 restaurant, in the bustling streets of McKinley Hills, Taguig, represents authentic Tondo cuisine. It brings the original and flavorful taste of Tondo to the business district for food enthusiasts seeking a Filipino culinary experience. Owned by the Former Mayor of Manila, Isko Moreno, Ugbo 24/7 opened its doors in November 2023. Introducing Tondo’s delicious culinary flavors to the discerning palates of residents and visitors. The restaurant’s name, ‘Ugbo,’ pays homage to a famous dining hub on a street in Tondo, Manila. It is where locals and tourists gather to enjoy hearty meals and conversations. This famous street in Tondo is famous for vendors selling different takes on Filipino favorites, especially the Tumbong Soup. Tumbong Soup is a Filipino dish made from pigs’ intestines. It is seasoned with onion leeks, fried garlic, and salt. Furthermore, most people often enjoy it alongside fried rice, complimenting its savory and comforting flavors.
The menu offers a limited selection. Customers can enjoy their Lechon Kawali, Beef Camto, and Tumbong Soup. Each reminds the country’s festive gatherings and fun occasions. Beef Camto involves thinly slicing beef and marinating it in soy sauce, calamansi juice, garlic, and spices. After marination, the beef is lightly seared or quickly grilled to seal in the flavors for a tender and juicy result. Famous for its savory, slightly tangy taste with a hint of sweetness from the marinade. Beef Camto is typically served as a main dish alongside rice. Lastly, Lechon Kawali is another Filipino favorite that is made of crispy fried pork belly. Boiled until tender, then deep-fried to golden perfection, it offers a contrast of crunchy skin and juicy meat. Slightly seasoned with salt and pepper. Just like Beef Camto, it’s also best with rice and dipping sauces like toyomansi and vinegar with garlic and chili.
My Experience
My colleagues and I went to Ugbo 24/7 for lunch. The interior reflects an upscale Filipino eatery, with playful nods to local culture and tradition. They have colorful jeepney signages as designs on the walls and the door. From the outside, you can also see their chopping station for Lechon Kawali which I think is a great marketing strategy. I bet almost everyone who passes by stops to take a look! However, I noticed that their menu selection is very limited. As a new restaurant, I’m giving it a chance. Perhaps they will add more later on. They have combo meals priced from Php 190 to Php 200 per order which is cheap given its location. Referred to as ‘Solb,’ derived from Filipino slang meaning contentment and fullness after a delicious meal. This includes ulam (viand), soft drinks of your choice, and a cup of fried rice.

We tried each of their ulam (viand) which includes Beef Camto, Lechon Kawali, and Tumbong Soup. I was hesitant at first to try the latter because I worried that it would be clean and smelly. But it was otherwise! Unlike most that I tried, their Tumbong Soup looks and tastes clean, and no foul odor at all! I also love its melting texture in the mouth. Their Lechon Kawali is delicious but not as crunchy to my liking, a little bit chewy. Maybe it needs more boiling or frying, but I’d give it a solid 9/10 nonetheless. Lastly, their Beef Camto was very flavorful and tender! I didn’t expect it at first since it’s beef meat but I’m pleasantly surprised! All of them were great with rice and I can’t wait to be back here for another round. I just hope they have more to offer by then.
