C. Palanca St., Makati: Where to eat?

C.Palanca

Makati City is the Metro’s hub for diverse business enterprises and multicultural lifestyles. A place to enjoy an exciting mall tour, art galleries, and chic restaurants — you might get lost sometimes, but getting lost will be much more exciting with these kinds of street offerings. Have you ever heard of C. Palanca?

C. Palanca Street

I used to live and work on Don Carlos Palanca Street in Legazpi Village, so it holds a special place in my heart. There are several chic restaurants with delectable treats—a fantastic spot to unwind.

I recently went back to check what had changed. I was a little disappointed to see that the Pandemic had forced some of my favorite eateries to close. The good news is that new businesses have taken their place.

TATATITO

The TATATITO: Filipino Home Kitchen is one of them. It was formerly the location of the fast-food company Mang Inasal, but it recently closed and was replaced with this freshly constructed restaurant.

The name of TATATITO, the interior design accents, even the seats, all have a distinctively Filipino feel. Additionally, you can see right away the Filipino appetizers, called “kakanin,” that they sell to whet your appetite for substantial meals.

MENU

Here are the lists and prices of TATATITO’s dishes:

FOOD

For me, their cuisine is a little expensive. My order of crab Palabok already set me back 435 pesos. Even yet, it looks good because it’s topped with delicious-smelling sauce and garnishes.

It’s an unusual Palabok because it’s crispy and contains seafood like crab and juicy shrimp. However, it’s so salty that it reminds me of ulam or viand. I wish I had ordered rice with this; kidding aside, the food was delicious, but it was different from the usual palabok we get at other restaurants.

Of course, I should have dessert after finishing my Palabok meal. TATATITO’s Fiesta Gulaman, which costs only 125 pesos, was my first try. There appear to be two gelatin flavors: pandan and strawberry. The addition of cream enhances the flavor of this dish.

It’s well worth it because the serving is large enough to share with someone you love!

TATATINO is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm.

I had a fantastic time with my ‘merienda’ here. I will definitely return, perhaps for dinner, so that I can try different dishes. But for now, let’s take another stroll down C. Palanca Street to sample some of the foods that await me.

THE COFFEE ACADEMICS

My ‘merienda’ was not yet finished because I was about to visit ‘The Coffee Academics.’ When you first hear the name of the shop, it appears intelligent and educated. You might also wonder if the majority of customers are students, but this is Makati, so you’ll mostly see young professionals.

The coffee Academics looks like other regular coffee shops. They have affordable snacks like Rebel bar, Ensaymada, Ube Cheese puff, and many more. But for sure, you wouldn’t miss the chance to have a sip of their coffee offerings.

Along with satisfying your hunger, you might get pleasure from observing the various ways they make coffee.

FOOD

The Iced Chocolate (P190), Cheese Puff (P125), and Red Velvet Cake (P160) were what we ordered. One of my favorite sweets is red velvet because it’s delicious and affordable. Each layer’s richness, in all of its deliciousness, is what I adore. In addition, I love the fresh strawberry on top so much. It appeared as though I had taken a brief holiday in Baguio without leaving the huge city.

Of course, I couldn’t pass up The Coffee Academics’ unique offerings; the Pour Over Manual Brewing Coffee will take you around the world with its various types of coffee from various countries. Among them are Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Kochere, Colombia Antioquia Supremo, and Brazil Cerrado.

Ethiopia, which cost 250 pesos, was my choice. Simply sip the coffee slowly and enjoy the authentic flavour of this hot beverage. On that day, I had the best coffee I’d ever had… 😉, and I’m still looking forward to trying new varieties of coffee and finding the best one on my upcoming trips.

Just a quick aside: The Coffee Academic is more than just a business. This shop also helps farmers and underprivileged children all over the world. So, by coming here for a piece of cake and a cup of coffee, you are also supporting their cause.

You can take a visit every day from 7 am to 12 am.

Woah! I had a good time walking down C. Palanca street again. I’ll return to try Doodletea, Gringo, Sicilian Roast, Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant, and Parameter Coffee.
